Prayer Requests

Calling All Prayer Warriors!

The State Kairos Prayer Focus Group would love to have prayer warriors join in the monthly prayer focus group held via telephone.  Calls take place the first Thursday of each month at 9:00 p.m.  To join in, simply call toll-free 1.888.824.5783, listen to the message, and when prompted enter this passcode 57409943#.  You will be connected with Kairos folks from all over the state to pray for the many needs of the Kairos community and to offer praise for the miracles God has wrought through the Kairos program.  We would love to have at least one representative from each Advisory Council, but the more the better! If you have questions about the group, contact Kathi Coleman at 662.329.1469.
  • September 2: From Joe Zelasko: Please pray for my sister, Sandra Wollek, who is in ICU in Phoenix, AZ, with a whole bunch of serious problems... an infection in her heart valve, infection in her bladder and in one of her kidneys, gangrene in one foot, and a very low white cell count which is hampering the work of her medical team.  Please ask Jesus for healing for Sandy and her family.Thank you, Your brother in Christ,Joe Zelasko, Vicksburg
  • August 19: From Mark Propst: Our Kairos brother Bill Johnson's wife Rita has been through three surgeries as of late to repair her knee. Her natural ligaments were too weak to support the repairs in the first two procedures and they have now put in an artificial knee.Rita is in rehab in Mendenhall. These procedures and the rehab have been exceedingly painful. Please pray for quick and complete healing, peace and comfort for Rita and Bill as they suffer through this trial.

  • August 19: From Reece Vaughan: My Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ, First of all, let me say "Thank You."  These words seem so inadequate, but I don't know how else to say it for all of the prayers, phone calls, emails, text messages and anything else that you have all sent up to the Throne room of God for my Mother and for me & the rest of my family. Mama has come through her surgery and is doing OK, and now I have another more specific request.  The doctors have found what they believe is a multiple myeloma, a form of blood cancer in her right femur, just below the break in her hip.  They took a biopsy yesterday and plan to do a complete bone scan Friday. I have been hesitant to mention this before because I didn't want to alarm my sisters or any other family members unecessarily but God has reminded me that we should come to Him in all things and that we are supposed to trust in Him completely. Last Saturday at Prayer & Share in Yazoo, one of the inmates talked about God's covenant with Noah and the rainbow that He gave as a reminder of that covenant.  He also reminded us that to see the rainbow we must first go through the rain.  Please continue to pray for my family as we go through this rainy season.  Pray that we will look to the rainbow and not to the rain. In His Grip! Reece
  • August 18: From Bob Neill: Mark had three stints put in this morning @ St. Dominic's.  Reece reports he's groggy, but okay. Unc
  • August 18: From Bob Neill: 1) Chairman Reece just called to say they have moved his Mom's hip surgery up to 9:30 this morning and asked me to get that word out -- they are feeling your prayers.  2)  Mark Kurtz is having a heart catherization today -- maybe as you're reading this, also at St. Dominic's Hospital.  More later, when I hear from him or Dianne; Reece was going by to see him.  3) Mike Lewis got his biopsy back, and the place on his nose is malignant, so he will be having surgery next Wednesday; also, prayer for financial healing for Mike's business.  4) The MS Karo Music Team will be in concert tonight (Wed) at Spring Ridge Methodist Church at 6; the new CDs will be available there, too.  Come one, come all. 5) On a personal note: when The Grunk was chairman between Steve & Reece, probably the mainmost Blessing was in sending out these type prayer requests, then getting to see -- and FEEL -- your responses: "On my knees now!" or "Gittin' 'er done!" or "Praying & Passing the word!" or similar assurances that the people who needed lifting up -- including Uncle Bob -- were being lifted up in prayer to the Throne.  That duty was pretty much passed on to Reece, when he became chairman 18 months ago, as well as John Coleman heading up the MS Karo Prayer Focus Team, suceeded now by Kathi Coleman.  That's been the secret to the phenominal growth in MS Kairos during the past few years -- still is.  Since Reece called about his Mom & Mark called about his heart & Mikey called about his nose, giving me the opportunity to send these requests out to you once again, I have once more been bathed in the Love of Kairos in Mississippi.  God Bless Y'all!  Unc

  • August 17: From Bob Neill: Just talked to Reece, and his mom did break her right hip and is probably going to surgery tomorrow at St. Dominic's, so continue to pray for her.  Reece says, "There is NOTHING like this Kairos Family!  Diane and I could FEEL those prayers going up for us and covering us up at the same time!  Thank you, everyone." A second prayer request this morning, from Mark Kurtz, who had been having some chest pains and went to Dr. Rose early today for a stress test, which he flunked!  Said they pulled him off the treadmill, laid him on a table, and slipped a nitro tablet under his tongue, then called Jackson Heart Clinic at St. Dominic's and got him a 1:45 appointment today. Let us focus our prayers on St. Dominic's today, where Reece, Mark, both their Dianes, and Reece's Mom are needing our prayer cover.  And thank you all, for being like you are. Unc

  •  August 12: From Stanley Williams: Good morning! Well, what a huge step - they are flying him out tomorrow to Atlanta so he can start rehab at Shepherd's Center! Please continue to keep him in your prayers - he is going to need all the strength and courage he can get to fight this battle. Also, please start praying for our family to have wisdom in the upcoming decisions. At MD Anderson, they are saying that after he recovers they want to start radiation therapy. In less than 6 months. So, we need God's guidance to help us decide the type of radiation and where we'll receive it. I'm just so grateful that we at least have that much time to get him over the surgery before we have to start that. Much love, Genie Alice

August 11: From Mark Propst: My step-son-in-law's father, Gary K, has been diagnosed with a tumor that is wrapped around the pituitary gland. It is operable but the concern is that it is closely associated with optic nerve and other vital areas of the brain. Gary and his wife are Mormon, however they have graciously allowed this request. Let's show 'em that when God is in charge and His people pray, things change.  Pray that God will guide the surgeon's hand so that only the tumor is removed and that this witness will be a testimony to all.
  • August 11: From Reece Vaughan: Stephen Stuart has requested prayer for Steve Barnes.  Steve is in the Baptist Medical Center in Memphis undergoing treatment for Leukemia.  Please remember Steve as he goes through this valley.

  • August 11: From Sonshine: Ronald Holdiness, a faithful Kairos and Torch servant has request prayers for ear surgery he has tomorrow, Thur.  Ron was lead servant @ Kairos 17, Parchman Unit 29, has served on several teams and is a faithful mentor at Torch Walnut Grove.  This servant is having surgery due to the way bone is growing as a result of chemo he has had in the past.  God used that chemo as He alleviated cancer in Ron!! Alleluiah!  Also, if I have not asked you to cover Lt Col Lawrence Austin, Josephine, Amanda and Bryant, please put them on your prayer lists for a year at least.  Lt Col Austin is serving us in Afghanistan for the next year and he is my younger brother-in-law.  They trust God and His great plan!  Me too!!! Glory to God!I love you guys! Sonshine
  • August 5: From Reece Vaughan: I received a call from one of our prayer warriors today with a special request for another one of our prayer warriors.  Mike is in a predicament concerning his home and his job.  As everyone knows it's hard to pay for a home without a steady income.  I am asking that you pray that God will continue to meet Mike's every need and that he will recognize the things God puts in his path even when it's not what he thinks it should be.  Mike is stepping up to the front of the battle line and the enemy is taking some hard shots directly at him.  Please send up the prayers and let's watch the enemy fail again!  I know Mike would and has done the same for you.
  • July 15: From Reece Vaughan: I just talked to Linda Jack this morning and Chaplain Galloway over at Walnut Grove has given the green light to an "Experiencing God" study in the facility there. Linda Jack will be leading this study and she has asked for your prayers.  She is also needing 100 "Experiencing God"  workbooks for this mission and she needs them by next Monday!  Can you help?  Donations can be sent to Linda Jack at 1484 Lewis Lane, Starkville MS  39759 or workbooks can be shipped directly to Chaplain James Galloway, Walnut Grove Youth Correctional Facility, 1650 Hwy 492 East, Walnut Grove MS  39189.
